WRITING TO THE TIME: SPECIAL EDITION DROP-IN WRITING WORKSHOP
For this drop-in, we’ll explicitly focus on writing’s role in a difficult time. How is our writing a form of action? How is coming together to read and write an act or activism more broadly? Teaching-writer Danny Stewart will lead discussion on poetry by Claudia Rankine, Jamaal May, Sharon Olds and others to think about the history of creative writing in relationship to privilege, bigotry, racism, white supremacy, and other forms of oppression. And as always, attendees will be encouraged and guided in writing side by side, with the chance to share and discuss their work. Please join us for this drop-in in a safe, supportive space.
DROP-IN WORKSHOP is The Cabin’s free and open writing workshop, held from 6:30-8:00 PM on the first Tuesday of each month. Drop-in is hosted by alternately by writers Danny Stewart and Heidi Kraay who create unique prompts designed to inspire a supportive community of local writers.
