Hello everyone, Jackie here. Along with the help of two fellow interns, I have been working the front desk. Now two weeks into the summer, I am beginning to find my footing and feel out my place at The Cabin. Learning my duties and responsibilities has been interesting. As an intern at the front desk, there is a great deal of freedom in choosing what projects will be worked on each day. So far, I have been helping with updating records online that date back to the beginning of The Cabin as an institution. In addition, I have been answering the phone, taking registrations, and helping with anything else that pops up.
With this internship, I hope to learn more about what it is like to work with a successful nonprofit. I’m really interested in finding out more about the behind the scenes action. The Cabin is shaping up to be a really great place for me to learn and explore the intricacies of working at a local nonprofit. What makes this experience even better, is the fact that I have the opportunity to work with people that are also passionate about reading and writing.
I feel like this summer is shaping up to be pretty awesome. I’m excited to what the rest my time here will bring.
