UPDATE, 3/13/2020, 4:30 PM:
The first case of coronavirus has been confirmed in Idaho. Learn more here.
In response to recommendations from the City of Boise and State of Idaho to postpone events with more than 250 attendees and to public health concerns around the spread of COVID-19, The Cabin will be postponing or cancelling most upcoming events and workshops starting Monday, March 16th, 2020 through at least Monday, May 15th, 2020.
Even though there are no known cases of COVID-19 in Idaho, we care deeply about the health of our community, staff, and teaching-writers and want to do our part to limit the spread of the virus in our state.
Due to the varied nature of our programming, we have developed individual plans for all upcoming events and workshops.
Postponed: Readings & Conversations with Madeline Miller on Wednesday, April 15th
Our final Readings & Conversations lecture of the series will be postponed. We are working to see if we can reschedule this for a later date and will update all of you as soon as we can.
We do not have any updates on Readings & Conversations series ticket renewal at this time.
Cancelled: Free Drop-In Writing Workshops
The following Free Drop-In Writing Workshops will be cancelled:
- Tuesday, March 17th, 2020
- Tuesday, April 7th, 2020
- Tuesday, April 21st, 2020
- Tuesday, May 5th, 2020
Our Free Drop-In Writing Workshop is set to return on Tuesday, May 19th, 2020.
Cancelled: CAMBIA Celebration of Youth Writing
Published students will receive their copy of the CAMBIA anthology at their final classroom celebrations.
Adult Writing Workshops
If your workshop is currently in session, know that we are working with your teaching-writer to determine the best course of action. For now, assume that it will go on as planned. We will be in touch early next week.
If you have enrolled in a workshop scheduled for March or April, you will receive status updates regarding your individual workshop via email as they become available. Expect to hear from us early next week!
The Cabin Building
Organizations that use The Cabin building will receive status updates via email as they become available.
As of now, we are still open from Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM and we are taking cleaning very seriously.
Summer Writing Camps
Summer Writing Camps will go on as scheduled starting in June. We will review all safety precautions for these small group, outdoor experiences in the coming weeks. By all means, register here.
We know that cancellations and postponements are disappointing and have the potential to cause real hardship for audiences, writers, and teaching-writers. As such, we will communicate any changes to our schedule as soon as we are able. Thank you for continuing to support The Cabin and our literary community during this uncertain and challenging time.
