DROP-IN WORKSHOP  is The Cabin’s free and open writing workshop, held from 6:30 – 8:00 PM on the first Tuesday of each month. Drop-in is hosted by writers Danny Stewart, Heidi Kraay, and other guest writers who create unique prompts designed to inspire a supportive community of local writers. No RSVP required. Lesson is designed for full hour-and-a-half attendance so come early (or a little late) and snag a seat!

June’s Teaching-Writer is Kim Cross

Author of the New York Times Best-Selling WHAT STANDS IN A STORM, Kim Cross is a freelance writer and journalist specializing in meticulously reported literary nonfiction. After more than a decade as an editor and staff writer at Southern Living, Cooking Light, and other publications, she quit her job to freelance full time for Outside, ESPN, Garden & Gun, Southwest magazine, Bicycling, Bike, and other magazines. Her fishing memoir, The King of Tides, was anthologized in The Best American Sports Writing 2016 and won a gold Lowell Thomas Award from the Society of American Travel Writers. What Stands in a Storm was the inaugural winner of the Fitzgerald Museum Literary Prize and the American Society of Journalists and Authors Book Award. A Barnes & Noble “Discover” pick, it was named one of Amazon’s Best Books of 2015 and was a finalist in the GoodReads Choice Awards
