Join us for a lecture with James McBride, accomplished jazz musician, screenwriter, and author of seven books, including National Book Award winner The Good Lord Bird.

JAMES MCBRIDE is the author of seven books, including The Color of WaterMiracle at St Anna, National Book Award winner The Good Lord Bird, and his 2016 biography of James Brown, Kill Em and Leave. In 2016, McBride was awarded The National Humanities Medal by President Barack Obama. His latest novel, Deacon King Kong, is the rollicking story of what happens to the residents of a 1960’s Brooklyn neighborhood when a young drug lord is shot in broad daylight by a bumbling drunk.
