Ways to Make Our Writing Shine: A Workshop on Rewriting/Revising with Colleen Brennan

June 12 @ 6:30 PM - 8:30 PM

|Recurring Event (See all)

An event every week that begins at 6:30pm on Wednesday, repeating until July 24, 2019

Event Navigation

Every writer has a story, an essay, or a book chapter sitting in a drawer, in a box, or in a pile waiting for the finishing touches. If you’re like me, you thrive on the early writing steps of generating ideas and creating messy first drafts but don’t feel as thrilled or motivated when it comes to the three Rs: revisiting, revising, rewriting.

Let’s unearth these buried agates, apply polish, and make them shine!

In this 6-week workshop we will:

  • Acquire a toolbox for rewriting/revising (e.g., learn where to begin; figure out what to add, omit, or change)
  • Workshop our pieces (share feedback; decide what feedback to apply and what to discard)
  • Discover what master writers say about revision
  • Explore common writing errors and how to fix them
  • Discuss ways to tame our inner critic

Note: this workshop is most appropriate for writers of prose. Poets, we’ll catch you next time!

This is a 6-week workshop that will meet on the following Wednesdays from 6:30 – 8:30 PM:

  • June 12th
  • June 19th
  • June 26th
  • July 10th
  • July 17th
  • July 24th
