Leave a gift in your will

Legacy gifts, or planned gifts, are an excellent way to make an impact on an organization in which you believe in so that the great work that you care about can continue.

This type of giving comes in a variety of ways and allows you to customize your support for the future of the Cabin according to your passions and principles, without costing you anything during your lifetime.

  • A Bequest is a gift made from your will. It is one of the simplest and most common forms of legacy giving.

    Bequests can be a set dollar amount or a percentage of your estate. You can this gift without paying anything now. The purpose of this gift can be unrestricted to the Cabin, or directed to a specific program close to your heart.

    The Cabin’s Summer Writing Camps help kids cultivate a lifelong love of writing through fun, week-long literary adventures. Teaching-writers share their expertise to help students build confidence in their writing.

  • Writers in the Schools (WITS)

    Writers in the Schools places teaching-writers in 3rd–12th grade classrooms and juvenile detention centers throughout the Treasure Valley to foster creativity, communication, and self-discovery.

  • Ghosts & Projectors

    The Cabin’s Ghosts & Projectors reading series pairs experimental, innovative, and emerging writers of all genres with writers from the Treasure Valley to engage our literary community.

  • Writers in the Attic

    Writers in the Attic is a contest designed for Idaho writers, both emerging and established, to publish work related to a one-word theme. Submissions are blind-judged by a local writer of acclaim and published in a yearly anthology.

  • Writing Workshops

    From single-evening events to six-week intensives, the Cabin’s Writing Workshops provide the support, tools, and community needed to develop as a writer. Participants receive individualized guidance from teaching-writers.

  • Read Freely

    In a proactive move against censorship, Rediscovered Books and the Cabin raise funds to distribute banned or challenged books to readers in our community through local volunteers.

  • Readings & Conversations

    For more than 20 years, the Cabin’s Readings & Conversations series has featured literary superstars, bestselling authors, and high-profile thinkers to jumpstart community conversations on critical issues.

Support Cabin Programs

The Cabin awarded me with a scholarship to attend Daniel Stewart's 'Reading & Writing Poems: A Guide' in October 2020. I wanted to share that I was selected for the Best New Poets 2022 for my second-published poem "The Mothers" which appeared in World Literature Today in September 2021...I am extremely grateful to The Cabin for contributing to this major milestone in my writing life.
