The Cabin is a literary arts nonprofit serving readers and writers of all ages through exceptional programs, partnerships, and community gatherings. Our office is located in a recently renovated historic forestry building in downtown Boise.

The grant manager is a key position on the Cabin staff who works with our development team to secure funding for The Cabin’s programs. To be successful, the grant writer must have exceptional communication skills and the ability to carefully manage a complex schedule of deadlines and reporting.

Key Accountabilities

•          80% Manage The Cabin’s grants (currently $250,000 a year)

•          15% Assist with other fund development activities like the Cabin gala

•          5% General customer service for Cabin patrons and members

Job Duties

  • Maintain the grant database and yearly calendar

  • Research, write, and submit grants

  • Write and submit grant reports

  • Research new grant opportunities based on programming needs

  • Work with the finance manager to create yearly grant budget

  • Attend grant award events

  • Keep statistics for programs to use for grant reports and tracking

  • Assist with patron services and events as needed.

Shared Duties (all Cabin Staff are responsible for these)

  • Attend occasional board and committee meetings

  • Answering phones

  • Greeting visitors

  • Keeping the building and work areas clean

  • Taking out trash and recycling

  • Staffing events

The Perfect Candidate Would Posses

  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills

  • Proven experience researching, writing, and securing grants

  • Database management experience

  • Highly organized

  • Excellent time management skills

  • The ability to both work independently and as a team

  • Passion for the literary arts

Pay: $19.00-$22.00/hr

PT Benefits: vacation, sick, and holiday hours, 3% simple IRA match (after one year), 4 day work week (closed mondays)
