Summer Camp Volunteer Teaching Assistant Application

SUMMER WRITING CAMPS are weeklong literary adventures for Idaho kids in grades 3-12. Each camp is led by a professional writer who designs camp curriculum based on creative writing enrichment in their genre of expertise: poetry, fiction, memoir, playwriting, and screenwriting. Through active, imaginative writing experiences, Cabin camps engage kids in the power of reading and writing as lifelong practice.

VOLUNTEER TEACHING ASSISTANTS are a big part of the success of writing camp. Teaching assistants work directly with campers and teaching-writers.

Our teaching assistants help the teaching-writer by supporting students with whatever they need to write awesome work (and have fun doing it). Duties include keeping track of supplies, participating in games and lessons, working directly with campers who need individual support, accompanying the teaching-writer and campers on field trips, making photocopies, taking attendance, encouraging students, and being an all-around good role model.

Most volunteers offer their time for two weeks each summer, but if you’re only available for one we’re more than willing to work with you. All volunteers are required to attend an orientation where we go over expectations and share some tools for working one-on-one with campers.

The deadline is rolling until all positions are filled. Apply now!
